Bajaj General Insurance will have a new chief executive in 2027. Its board approved Deepak Reddy as CEO-designate on Friday 23 October, with effect from 1 January 2027, Business Standard reported. Parent company Bajaj Finserv disclosed the appointment in a stock exchange filing the same day, according to InsuranceAsia News.

The handover has two steps. Reddy is due to become managing director and CEO on 1 April 2027, but only if the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) approves him. Until 31 March 2027, the current MD and CEO, Tapan Singhel, stays in charge.

Singhel has worked at the insurer since 2007 and has led it since 2012. Business Standard reported that he is close to the regulatory limit of 15 years at the head of an insurance company, and the company described the plan as a “structured approach” to succession.

Reddy joins from Manappuram Finance, where he was most recently chief executive. Earlier, he spent 17 years in the Bajaj Finserv group, where his roles included leading the rural, insurance and gold loan businesses at Bajaj Finance.
