Saudi Arabia's Insurance Authority launched an Insurance Hackathon on 18 October 2026. It is a short competition in which teams develop technology solutions and working prototypes for problems that the insurance sector faces. Registration is open until 7 November.

Teams enter one of four tracks: customer experience and digital services; artificial intelligence and data; embedded and on-demand insurance; and mega events and mass gatherings. After screening from 7 to 10 November, the hackathon itself runs from 12 to 14 November in Riyadh, where projects are judged. The awards follow at the ingate 2026 insurance conference from 16 to 18 November.

The total prize pool is SAR 560,000. Each track has three prizes of SAR 80,000, SAR 40,000 and SAR 20,000, and winners also get places in the Authority's incubation and acceleration programmes. The Authority said leading projects can move on to its regulatory sandbox. The competition is open to students, developers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, insurtech companies and industry specialists.

The hackathon is part of the Authority's innovation ecosystem, which also includes a business incubator, an accelerator, the sandbox and a perks platform. The Authority links it to the National Insurance Sector Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030, and says it supports market development through data, innovation and AI.
