Tryg reports record third-quarter insurance service result of DKK 2.45bn as combined ratio improves to 76.8%

Danish insurer Tryg reported a record insurance service result of DKK 2,454m for the third quarter of 2026, up from DKK 2,181m a year earlier. The combined ratio improved to 76.8% from 78.6%, helped by low weather and large claims and a better underlying claims ratio, and the solvency ratio rose to 203%.

Tryg, the Nordic non-life insurer, said its insurance service result for the third quarter of 2026 reached DKK 2,454m, against DKK 2,181m in the same quarter of 2025. Chief executive Johan Kirstein Brammer described it as the "highest ever reported" insurance service result for the group. The combined ratio fell to 76.8% from 78.6%, while the expense ratio stayed at 13.3%.

The company said the underlying claims ratio improved by 60 basis points, after 50 basis points in the second quarter, with a solid improvement in Norway. Large and weather-related claims stayed at what Tryg called benign levels. Insurance revenue rose 4.1% in Danish kroner. Separately, Tryg pointed to new motor partnerships with Mercedes-Benz in Sweden, Tesla in Denmark and XPENG in Norway as further opportunities for growth.

The investment result fell to DKK 42m from DKK 177m, which Tryg called satisfactory given market volatility. Profit before tax rose to DKK 2,123m from DKK 1,980m, and profit after tax to DKK 1,625m from DKK 1,479m. The solvency ratio increased to 203% from 196% at the end of the second quarter. The quarterly ordinary dividend is DKK 2.15 per share, against DKK 2.05 a year earlier.

The nine-month figures remain below 2025 because of a one-off provision for Danish workers' compensation booked in the second quarter. The insurance service result for January to September was DKK 5,299m, against DKK 6,028m; without the provision it would have been DKK 6,499m. The nine-month combined ratio was 83.2%, or 79.4% on an adjusted basis.
