The 21st Gulf Insurance Forum, held in Dubai on 26 and 27 October under the theme "Redefining Insurability: Risk, Capital and Trust in a Systemic World", closed with 10 core recommendations, Middle East Insurance Review reported. The event drew 200 chief executives and insurance and reinsurance experts from 25 countries.
The recommendations ask insurers to integrate AI under governance frameworks that protect data, and ask regulators to adopt AI-powered supervisory technology. They also call for capital-market tools such as catastrophe bonds and insurance-linked securities for systemic risks, new cover for technology liabilities, products that close protection gaps, and stronger enterprise risk management.
Khalid Mohammed Al Badi, who chairs the Emirates Insurance Federation and the Gulf Insurance Federation, said GCC insurers must do more to cooperate and coordinate. Discussions included reviving a proposal for a pan-Gulf insurer with participation from all GCC states, an idea that earlier attempts did not realise, and the recent wave of mergers and acquisitions in the region.
