QIC grows nine-month premiums 9% to QR8.5bn as regional conflict claims weigh on profit

Qatar Insurance Company lifted gross written premiums 9% to QR8.5bn in the first nine months of 2026, Reinsurance News reported. Net profit fell 4.3% to QR562m after claims and reserving linked to the regional geopolitical conflict reduced the insurance service result.

Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) wrote QR8.5bn of gross premiums in the nine months to September 2026, up 9% on a year earlier, Reinsurance News reported. The group credited selective growth across its domestic, regional and international books, achieved while the global reinsurance market softened. Insurance revenue rose 14% to QR7.4bn.

Underwriting came under pressure. The insurance service result slipped 4.7% to QR336m, which QIC linked to claims and reserving from the regional geopolitical conflict. Net profit declined 4.3% to QR562m, and profit attributable to shareholders fell 4% to QR550m. According to management, premium growth and a 5.6% rise in investment income, to QR749m, largely offset the conflict losses.

Group CEO Salem Al Mannai described the company as well capitalised and pointed to strategic steps including the launch of QIC Market and a stronger partnership with ASR across Africa and developing markets.
