MGT says independent agents can quote its insurance inside ChatGPT and Claude

US small commercial carrier MGT says independent agents can now get real quotes from it inside ChatGPT and Claude, with its AI agent Aimee checking appetite and pricing the risk. MGT calls itself the first carrier to offer chat-based quoting to agents. Every quote still opens in MGT's portal for the agent to review before binding.

MGT Insurance, a US carrier for small commercial risks, said on 16 October that independent agents can now quote its products from inside ChatGPT and Claude. An agent describes a business in plain language in the chat and gets what MGT calls a "real rate" without leaving the assistant. MGT says it is the first carrier to offer chat-based quoting to independent agents; that is the company's own claim.

Binding does not happen in the chat. Whichever route an agent uses, the quote ends up in MGT's portal, and the agent checks it there before binding. MGT credits the rating work to Aimee, which it describes as its quoting and appetite agent: it builds the price from facts the agent has already typed, asks follow-up questions where data is missing, and discloses the assumptions behind the quote. The portal itself is a third route, for agents who prefer to submit an ACORD application or talk to Aimee there.

MGT gave no figures for quote volumes or the number of agents that use the tool, and did not say which states or products are included. Agents must contact their MGT territory manager or its broker success team to be set up.

MGT holds its own paper through CM Select Insurance Company, which it bought from Church Mutual in 2023, and writes in 43 states plus Washington, DC, Insurance Business reported in September. In a company post the day before the launch, co-founder Graham Topol and engineer Eric Lloyd wrote that a small commercial policy of $1,000 to $5,000 takes about two weeks on average to go from application to a bindable quote.
