TrendAI warns UAE firms that AI roll-outs are raising their cyber risk

TrendAI's South Gulf managing director, Salah Suleiman, told Gisec 2026 in Dubai that UAE companies face faster and more sophisticated cyber attacks as they embed AI in core operations, Khaleej Times reported. He urged firms to build governance for agentic AI and to plan security from the start.

Speaking at Gisec 2026 in Dubai, Salah Suleiman, Managing Director for the South Gulf at TrendAI, said cyber risk is growing as UAE enterprises deploy AI at scale, Khaleej Times reported. Criminals are also using AI to make their attacks faster and more sophisticated, and he said traditional defences may no longer be enough.

Suleiman argued that companies need to "secure AI with AI". He flagged agentic AI, which can act with limited human oversight, as a new governance concern, and advised businesses to set up governance frameworks and build security into AI projects from the start.

He noted that the UAE is increasing collaboration between government, technology firms and other stakeholders on AI governance, and said he expects spending on cybersecurity, cloud and governance capabilities to rise alongside AI investment.
