ERGO NEXT launches AI self-inspection tool for small-business commercial property cover

ERGO NEXT Insurance, the US small-business insurer owned by Munich Re's ERGO Group, said on 14 October that business owners can now complete commercial property inspections themselves in about 15 minutes with a vision-AI tool. The company compares this with a usual wait of five to 10 days for a field inspector and says the tool is available now for direct customers.

ERGO NEXT Insurance said its new self-service tool lets small-business owners complete and submit the inspection needed for commercial property cover in about 15 minutes. According to the company, vision AI gives users guidance in real time. ERGO NEXT says the tool is available now to businesses that buy directly from it.

According to ERGO NEXT, these inspections usually mean a wait of five to 10 days for a field inspector to visit. Chief Product Officer Effi Fuks-Leichtag said it is the first small-business insurer to offer an "AI-native, self-guided inspection model" within a fully digital purchase. The company gave no figures on take-up, inspection quality or underwriting results.

The company says this is the first feature that it and ERGO Group, Munich Re's primary insurance arm, have sponsored together since ERGO bought the business, formerly NEXT Insurance, in 2025. In September ERGO named ERGO NEXT chief executive Guy Goldstein its group Chief AI Officer.
