On 7 October 2026, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued its Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence (AI) Risk Management. MAS says the guidelines apply to all financial institutions and all forms of AI technology. Each firm can assess how best to meet the MAS supervisory expectations, based on the nature and scale of its AI use.
The guidelines take effect on 7 October 2027. MAS says firms should meet the expectations in Sections 3 to 4 from that date, and the expectations in Sections 5 and 6 by 7 October 2028. MAS states that firms "remain accountable" for AI in the services they deliver, including AI that third parties develop, operate or provide.
MAS also says that, in 2027, it intends to consult the financial sector on what additional guidance on agentic AI would be useful.
