Claim costs grew faster than claim numbers, according to preliminary FSA data. Insurers received around 22,000 road accident claims in the quarter, 7.2% more than in the second quarter of 2025, while the combined value of compensation paid and reported but unsettled claims increased by 19%.
Minor accidents drove the volume: claims in that category rose about 12.5% to 15,800 and cost around RO 12.48 million. Injury and medical expense claims increased about 4% to 3,200 and cost RO 6.2 million. Claims for serious accidents with material damage fell about 11.9% to 2,900, and fatality-related claims fell from 83 to 80.
The FSA said the figures show the need for stronger road safety measures and better compliance with traffic rules, and that prevention remains essential alongside insurance.
